It lies in the gully between his property and that of Mr W. J, Bridgman. This gully has been the course of a larze rjiver at one time. Mr Cumpstone first noticed th« ffraval at the bottom of a ditch two yean* ago, but he had no idea of the extont of the deposit until he was sipking a hole, when he came upon it two feet six inches below the surface. For the take of seeing Something of the nature and extent of the seam he went down seven feet six inches deeper, and still was in the seam, and the deeper he went the better the quality of the metal for road purposes became, it befog «*nr»» and withou£«ay clay.
