Arrived, this afternoon: The Manapouri, from the Bluff. Communications are passing between the Premier and Governments of the adjoining colonies with the view of convoking a conference, to meet in Melbourne, to discuss the advisability of adopting the scheme put forward by Admiral Try on for the defence of the colonies. It is understood, however, that the members of the Victorian Government are generally unfavourable to the plan in question.
