SUSPECTED MURDER. [BY TELEGRAPH.-PRESS ASSOCIATION.]

Wellington, Sunday. A man named James Thompson, a Nor wcgian, has bnen arrested on suspicion of having caused the deatii of Schultze, a sailor, found flouting in the harbour. The deceased and Thompson were in a brothel about a, week ago, and the latter threatened to kill him. Schultze left the house, and Thompson followed him, returning to the house an hour later, seeming to be agitated, and on being asked where his mate was, replied :" It was no matter ; he was no good." Schultze was never seen alive afterwards.

Monday Night. At the inquest on Schultze a verdict of " Found dead " was returned, and that thero was no evidence to show how he came by his death. Inspector Brown stated that Thompson, in custody on a charge of being concerned in the man's death, had made a statement, and which was himilar to that made by a witness at the inquest, namely, that he had a row with Schultze, and shortly after separated from him, both goinp in different directions. Thompson was brought before the R.M. Court this Afternoon and dismissed.
