Melbourne, Friday. To-day being fixed for the general elections has been proclaimed a public holiday throughout Victoria.

Adelaide, Fridaj\ Crook, late manager of the Commercial Bank of South Australia, has been admitted to bail. The Associated Banks have resolved to pass the notes of the Commercial • Bank if the gold belonging to the bank, now deposited in two banks in Adelaide, is distributed among all the banks belonging to the Association. Public feeling is generally in favour of the resumption of business by the Commercial Bank.
