THE IRISH QUESTION. London, February 5.
Referring to the Irish difficulty Mr Gladstone, in an address to the electors of Midlothian, states that Her Majesty's Government hope to introduce some scheme which shall promise more stability than is secured by the present law for the repression of crime. He adds that, while deeply conscious of the responsibility resting upon them, they are comforted by the belief that they are engaged upan a work of peace.
