NORTH NEW ZEALAND FARMERS CO-OPERATIVE ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the directors was held at the Hamilton store yesterday, for the purpose of considering the yearly accounts. There was a full attendance, and the chair was occupied by Mr W. A. (Iraham. The yearly transactions were carefully considered, and it was shown that a very considerable business had been done. Owing to the determined opposition of business firms, prices were in favour of the purchasers, but the directors expressed the utmost confidence in the future ■uccess of the association. Considering the dulness of the times it was considered that the results were quite as satisfactory as could have been anticipated. The chairman reported that much encouragement had been forthcoming to continue in their efforts. Existing shareholders had intimated their intention to increase the number of their shares, and in other ways forward the interests of the association. Applications for new shares were received, and 200 were allotted. Owing to the fact that the amount of produce forwarded to the Auckland stores for sale on settlers' account is rapidly increasing, the directors authorised the manager to take out an auctioneer's license in order that consignments might be released with the utmost promptitude. Letters were read from settlers in various parts of the district, addressed to the chairman, expressing the writers' satisfaction with the association's method of conducting business, and with the prices obtained for their produce. As the number of applications for the new issue of shares was not con-

sidered large enough to warrant the director* in at once cmb.uki:ig in the meat trade, it was decided to let the matter remain in abeyance for the present, but that it should not be lost sight of, and on the first favourable opportunity a move in the dehired direction would be made.
