Continuous heavy rains are falling in the colony, and the bush tires have been extinguished. In consequence of the great damage by them in the western districts of Victoria, many settlers have been completely burnt out. The men employed iv the flour mills of Melbourne have demanded a reduction of work to eight hours per day, or a total of 48 hours weekly. The masters are yielding to the request of the men.
