Hobart, January 7. Ax accident occurred on the river Derwent yesterday, involving the loss of several lives. While one of the boats engaged in the river trade was proceeding with a cargo of lime and several passengers, she was upset, and four women and a boy lost their lives by drowning, and the remaining six occupants of the boat were only rescued with great difficulty, owing to the burning condition of the lime caused by contact with the water.
Sydney, January 7. All the members of the new Ministry have been returned unopposed. The Colonial Treasurer has intimated that lie has been able to devise a scheme for the settlement of the financial difficulties of the colony without interfering with the established free trade principles.
