After the hmml duxotion.il exercises, Mr Stejiheii-i'ii expressed his pleasure at being able to resume the blue ribbon meetings, the legul.ir holding of xvhioh had been iiitcnuptcd, owing to other duties. The meeting-, had boon successful in the post, and the huge attendance this evening showed that the people had not lost interest in the cause. He then o.illed upon Mr HiHinirton, of Te Mat;i, to occupy the ch.iir, and ]iie>ule <i\cr the meeting. The chaiiinan having nddiessed the meeting at considei able length on the evils of intern ppr.incu. lefeirmg to cases, xvhicli had come under hi» own ob>enatioii, the following programme x\a-> gone through : -Song, " Absoloin," Mr Stepheiwm ; song, " Welcome. xv.uideier, welcome," Mr K. Wallis ; recitation, "The Bine Ribbon Mill," Mattel F. Hoisey; "The song of Soldier,"' choir: speech," Mr Hazaid ; duet, "Stars that gem the trackless sky," Miss Sax age and Mr Stephenson ; snng^, " Wheie is my wandering I>".V to-night,' Mr C. Moon; leading, " Slam by drink," Mi-s Spencer; qu.utette, " Along tho rixer of time," mem bei* of the choir ; dialogue, " Wolsey and Cionnvcll,"' Masters F. Horsey and G. (Tthumir; recitation, "The »nu\\\ bit of blue," Alis<« E. Macdonald ; song, "Chanty," Miss Wallis; i-pcitation, "The doctor's flight." Mr E. Wallk; song, "The gushing i ill," Mi-s Kate Sax age ; recitation, " Only a little drop," Miss Macionald ; duet, "One day nearer home," Miss Moon and Mi.ss Wallis; recitation, "The landlord and the artizan,"' Master G. Gilmour; hymn, "Gather them in,' 1 choir; hymn, "The Chiistian's happy home," choir. Miss Wallis as usual presided at the harmonium. Great praise is due to this young lady for her effoits in connection with the temperance cause, and also to those who cotno forwaid Jrom time to time, and contubutc to the success of these meetings.
