Auckland, Monday. Thb New Zealand Stud and Pedigree fttock Company's annual rale of thoroughbred ,yeai lings, stuji Hereford and Shorthorn bulls, nndLeicestor, Lincoln and Shropshire Down rams, was held to-day. A good many Southern sportsmen and cattle dealers were present, among.>t them C.ipt. Russell, the Hon. Mr Robinson, Allan McLean, George Hunter, of Napier ; Allan McDonald, Gisborne; Redwood, and White of Sydjioy, (nephew of the Hon. J. White) There were also present );he Hon. Jas. Williamson, Messrs Firth, Morrin, Every McLean, flobb*, Jan. Dillworth, t Major George, Major Pitt, Balmaiu, OBrien and Clifford. The sale c>>inmt;nced with offering eight Shropshire Down rams for hire until May next, but jw there was no bid made, they were passed-. Subjoined is the list of sales:— •. , J ~ 3 Shropshire Down rams, 5 guineas each — Steadman. ' 3 Rams, 5 guineas — Carrick. 3 Hams, 5 guineas— Vmny. 2 rams, 5 guineas — Carrick and Woodward. 1 ram, 5 guineas — McKinnon. 1 ram, 5 guineas — Pettress. 2 ram*, 5 guineas— Brooks (Waikato). Lois 05 and 06 were passed. Mr Buckland intimated that ho less a price than 5 guineas would be accepted. He asked for enquiries at this rate. There was no response, and they were therefore passed. Leicesters : As there were no bids the auctioneer, Mr Buckland, at once passed soven lots. Lincoln* : For the first lot there was again no bid, and Mr Buckland at once passed the 27 lots, remarking that people h.id evidently come out determined only to buy racm? stock. Lord Penrose was passed without an olfer. Yorkshire Lad, 20 guineas— Mr Brooks, Waikato. H.wnsby Duke, roan, by Baron Raby, 16 guineas— -Slater. Iv.mhoe 11, by Godolphin Royal, 17 guineas — Woodward. Commander, 4 years old,iby Coomassie out of Ouida, was passed iv at bix guineas. Rockingham, aged, was passed without offer. Earl of Oxford, imported, was passed without offer. Monarch, a yearling, by Duke of Newcastle out of Grand Duches3, l6 guineas— Hutcliinson, Mnngonui. Hereford yearling bulls : lat 11 guineas, Reid ; 4at 10 guineas ; 4 were passed.
