Bankruptcies. Auckland, Monday. Arthur Osbornb Stei'HENson, draper, Qneeu street, and William Tole, land surveyor, filed statements of insolvency to-day, and were declared bankrupts. Bush Fires. Bush fires raging in Drinnan Bros.' bush, Kaukapakapa, have caused considerable damage. Serious ChargeArthur Utting was arrested to-day on a charge of attempting to rescue a marine of H.M.s. Nelson, who had been arrested for desertion. Serious Accident. Mr Richard Dean, of Pollok Settlement, fell off his horse at Pukekohe on Saturday night. He is now lying at Mr Ferguson'^ hou.->e in an unconscious state, and the doctor has no hopes of his recovery. The Minister of Pul&iTWorks. The hon. Mr Richardson,' Minister for Public Works, has arrived, a.nd is stopping at the Star Hotel.
