THE CHURCHILL MYSTERY.
Vbuy little light has been thrown upon t}iis remarkable c ise, notwithstanding tb» ffiet that the police have been doing their utmost to unravel the mystery. It is quito clear, however, that Paddy Clarke and the deceased are not one and tho same, seeing that Clarke, as we were informed by telegram on Tuesday, is safe and sound at Kihikihi at the present moment. Mounted Constable Wild has thoroughly scoured tho country m search of traces of the in m Jimmy Dunbar, but so far no definite mfoimation regarding him has been obtained. The various swamp Jmitieb mtei viewed know nothing of his wjhereubouts, but nearly all the men who knew him are of opinion that tho descuption of tho drowned man does not tally -vvithth.vt of Dimbir, nhn^e hair was not reddish, but black. No one «eems to have remarked that Dunbar had lost a finger. Late last night Sergeant-Major Mcliovern received inform ition that Dunbar is woiking on Laikins and O'Brien's contract at Hikutaia, but the report wants confirmation.
