CHRISTMAS CAROLS.
The carol enteitainment at the Public Hall, H.vnnlton, on Christmas night was a gicat success in every respect. The hall was crowded to suffocation. Though the price of admission was only ono shilling, tho Amount Liken at the door wna nearly £17. The hall w.is very prettily decorated with ferns and evergreens in native htyle, and was greatly admned. Of the music it i«un-neeos->aiy to say much. The selections from the Messiah and the various conceited nuiubeis, ti ius, quai tetter and the solos weie all well rendered, while the caiol shiging was quite up to that of last year. Indeed, in the opinion of many thoroughly com potent to judge it w.is simply perfection, and mint ha\e occasioned no small amount of gratification to Mr Templur, tho organiser and conductor of theHd delightful Christinas treat*. The following was the programme :—lnstrumental prelude, Pastor.il Symphony ; Recitation, ("Comfort Ye;" aii, ''Every ValloyJ ;" Chorus. " And thcGloiy of the Lord ; recitath e, "Behold a Virgin shall Concoive," from " The Messiah ;" air and chorus, "OTliou that Tellct ;" holo and chorus, "Sanctus," " Bencd ictus, " "Me^so Solenelle," (flounod); chorus, "Balaam's Prophecy " (Sparke) ; instrumental interlude ; carol, "The First Nowell ;" holo and chorus, " Children's Voices ;" caiol, "Tho Manger Throne ;" trio. " Lift Tluno J ( ]yes;" carol, " Bell Carol ;'' aolo, "If with all your heaits;" cirol, " ChnstniaH Song;" quartutt, "For the T^ow Year;" cirol, "From Far Awavi"«olo, "'The Golden Path ;"quartett, "Tho Virgin and Chili ;" ciml, "There Came Thieo Kings;" carol, " Wassail Song " The entertainment wa« repeated in part last night. There was only a moderate attendance, but the audience thoroughly enjoyed the quality of tho fare net beforo them.
