Wklmxwton, Monday. Tiik following telegram was received by the Defence Minister this afteruoan: — " Wairo.i, 2Sth December. Te Kooti and .1 patty of 22~) crossed tho Mohaka at 7.M a.m. to-day. They parsed the pah without a word being six>ken on cither side. Anita, a chief, who entertained Ta Kooii heie, s.nv K.ihiiui at Petane, who murdered Kar.ita hero long ago. He requested that Knhana should be sont back and not allowed to \isit Wairoa. To Kooti bent him back. It ia expected that the ]>arty will reach here this eveuuig. There is no excitement or anxiety whatever. It is unknown whether Te Kooti intends going to Povuity Buy yet."
