A Fancy From Fontanolle.
"Dc niunoncs do ll'i ii on n'a point vu mounr le Jdidinioi. ' The rose in the gaidcn slipped her bud, And slic l.iughed m the pndc of liar youthful blood. As she thought of the Gardener standing by— '• He is old— so old ! And ho soon will die I" The full Rose waxed in the wnini June air, And she spread, and spread, till her heait lay bare ; And she laughed once more as she hand his tread— " lie is older now. He will soon be dea 1!" But the breeze of the morning blew, and found That the loaves of the blown Hose strewed the ground ; And he came at noon, that Gaulencr old, And he raked them softly under the mould. And I wove the thing to a random rhyme, For the Row h Beauty, tli n Garrlmrr Ti.nr, Austin DobtSon m t/it Cunfunj.
