TRINITY WESLEYAN SUNDAYSCHOOL ANNIVERSARY.
Tub ii\th anniversary of Trinity Weslcyan Sunday-school, Hamilton, was further celebrated by a tea and public meeting on Tuesday evening. M>iead had been provided, and tho building wan not large enough to accoinmod ite <tt one dittmg all those seeking admission. Aftci tea an adjournment was inudo to tho church, which wan juut comf.irUbly hlled. Tho Rev. J. Mather (Te Awnnmtu), opened the meeting with prayer, after which Mr (Jeorge French was called to tho chair. Mr A. Maunder read the .«ecretaiy's icport, which stated that several of the elder scholars had given their heart* to God ; sixty two scholars weie total abstainers ; number of scholais on roll, D7 — boyi, 41; girls, fib" ; average attendance, 59. The trcamirer'n report showed a debtor b«lance of £4 17s lid, which, howe\er, is more than covered by the proceeds of this anniversary. Tho Rev. J. Mather addresgrd the meeting, oncouraging tho tencheiH, and demonstrating the importance of the work in which they wero engaged, and urged them to make their lessons as attracti\o and interesting as possible. Mr A. Campbell followed with a good practical addicts, in which he congratulated tho superintendent and teachern on the good results of their past year's work, and spoke strongly against the too common practice of ridiculing the conversion of children. Rev. J. Dellow next addressed the meeting. Ho was grateful to find that the labour of tho teachers had not been in vain, and ho would like to see the nails which had been thiiH entered, hammered home and clinched. Men and women of tact and perseverance, but above all of sterling Christian principles, wero required to 611 the positions of Sunday-school toachors. Godly men wero sadly wanted at the helm of State affairs, and parents and teachers must work together to train their children in the way they should go. Special hymns were sung by the children. Miss Salmon sang ''Kvening," and "O how kindly," with excellent effect, and tho same may bo said of Mrs Horue'» solo, # 'Tlio blackbird in tho churchyaid." Tho whole affair was » decided success, both financially and otherwiso, and thanks are due to all those who helped to bring about thiu desirable roault. Last evening the children attending tho school were entertained to tea, buns, cako, etc., and pleasantly finished out tho evening with several games in th^ schoolroom.
