A letter wan handed to the chairman of the committee from Mr LeQuesne, the landlord of the property, who protested against the granting of the transfer to Mr Beaumont, stating that Mr Beaumont wa« not conducting the house in a proper manner. According to the Licensing Act, Mr LeQucuie's objection should have been given in writing to the applicant three days prior to the meeting. As this was not done, the objection could not be entertained by the liench. The Assignee, Mr J. S. The police report, was filed about ten days before the meeting, was favonrable, but Sergt.-Major McGoven wished I the committee to know that since that report was filed, he had heard lome very unfavourable reports concerning the management of the home. The Committee, having consulted, adjourned the hearing of tho application for a fortnight.
