LORD SALISBURY AT THE MANSION HOUSE. London, November 9.
The .annual Lord Mayor's dinner was held in the Guildhall last night. The Premier, Lord Salisbury, replying to the toast of " Her Majesty's Minister.-.," stated that Russia was heartily co-oper.iting with Great Britain in marking the RussoAfsjhan frontier. Referring to the Burmese difficulty, Lord Salisbury said as little change would be made in the administration of Burmah as vras consistent with the interests of the British. Alluding to the Conference now .sitting at Constantinople, he expressed a hope that the strength of parties would be maintained unimpaired, and that such a settlement would be arrived at as would satisfy the people concerned. The policy of Her Majesty's Government in Ireland was to uphold the Union, to protect the loyalists, and generally to strive to give contentment and happiness to that country.
