Suimoinkd are the scores made by those who competed in the final tiring for tlio troop belt and the cross. A great number fired in the hr*st competition, some of whom, however, were absent from the distnut when the other competitions took place, leaving only ten to fire in tho final ovont. The ranges were 200, 300, 400, and .">OO yards, five shots at each range. A recruit has, in this caso, won the belt and cross, Corporal North, tlio lato holder, coining second. The recruit, however, fired so well that it is more than likely th.it though he may be a, recruit in the Te Awamutu cavalry, he has been already well instructed in rifle pr.ictico in some other coi pa.
