Bojd to the pastoial charge of the dKtiiet. There was a conmdoi.ihle attendance of the congtegation, though many of the l.idie-> weio engaged elsewhere in prepniing for the soiree. A number of friends fmm other confirmations weie also present. The sei \ ices weie conducted by a commission fioni the Auckland Piesbytery appointed for that purpose. The Rev. Mr Carnck acted as niodci.itoi on the occasion. The sermon was pi cached by the Rev. Mr Hntson, Te Aw.unntu. The Rev. Mr Somerville, ascleik, put the usual questions required by the niles of the Pipsbyteuan Chinch to the new minister, and an affectionate address, beaiiiig on the duties and responsibihtic-i of the Chu^tian ministry wasgnen by die Rev. Mi Kx.vns. The Rev. Mr Somerville aftei wards nd(ire^^cd Uip congregation. The addiessof the lattei gentleman was especially eauu^t and eloquent, and pointed out the duties which a congaeg.ition owes to its mhnstei. Tho hyinnn weie beautifully rendeied by the choir, assisted by seveial friend*). As this w the first instance of a Pitsbytenan minister being settled at Hamilton, the proceedings were regaided with much interest bv that portion of the community, those of them who weio present giving the row iii 1 ni^tei a most cordial gieeting at the close of the .sei\ ice.
