Syhxky, Octobor 10. Ix to-day's issue of tho Government Gazette the appointment of Sir Patrick Jennings as Colonial Secretary and Mr Dibbs as Colonial Treasurer is officially announced. The lion. J. S. Farnell, Minister of Lands, has re-signed the portfolio, his reason being that ho considers tho references made to the working of the Lando Department, in the electioneering address issued by the Hon. Mr Wright, Minister for Public Works, reilected npon himself. Further cases of small-pox have devoloped amongst tho persona isolated at tho quarantine station. A considerable number of Parliamentary candidates express themselves in favour of instituting the payment of members.
