J. .Smith, and Johnson. — After some routine business, the question of appointing an engineer for the Rangirin Outlying District was discussed. —In reply to the chair man, Mr T. (J. Kandes expressed the opinion that the money wasted in the Rmgiriii District during the List five years would have paid the cost of engmeeimg twice o\er. — Ci. Johiibon comb.itted the ht.itements of Mr .S.vndes, and objected very strongly to the proposed appointment, chipfly on the .score of evpense. — The Chairmnn said, weie he in Cr. Johnson's place, he would gladly welcome the appointment of an engineer, but as he was opposed to it, it would be well to hold the matter over for the inesent.— The Council agreed with this. — The clerk \yas instructed to write to the Wai pa Council, insisting upon the p.iyment of half engineering charges in connection with the Narrows Bridge. — It was resolved to effect certain repairs to thr budge between Taupin and Huntly. — A few accounts were passed for payment, and the council rose.
