BOROUGH OF HAMILTON. Election of Councillors.
Tin annual election foi the u tin n of three councillois to the Horough Council of Hamilton, took place on Thursday. Theie weio si\ candidates, namely, M«ssihGeoige Kdgecumbe, John Knox, Y. J. Yon Stuinier, T. Ci. Sandcs, J. Stoadman and S. Tuckoi. The thiee last nami'd weio the ictiiing councillors, Mi Sandes having been elected only a few weeks ago to fill the v acancy caused by tho retirement of Mi C. R. .Johnson. The result of the election will l.c the lntioduction of new blood into the council. Although the contest was by no means exciting, considei able interest was, novel theless, manifested m tho event Me-sis Kdgccumhe and Knox %veie looked upon as coitaintios, but vaiious conjectuu's were afloat as to w ho would be the third man, and as si\ o'clock drew near .speculation was life. Shoitly aftei that honi the returning officer, Mi' Gelling, announced the lesiilt of the polling, as follows : -- George Edgeouumo . N2 John Knox 74 T. (J. Sandes ~A F, J. Yon Stunner ">3 J.
