(Reccncd September 2nd, 3 p m.) Melbourne, Wednesday. Correspondence extending over a period of eighteen months between?** the Hon. Mr Sargood and Colonel Desney, commandant of the Victorian forces, was laid upon the table of the Legislative Assembly last night. The letters give evidence of the complete want of harmony which has existed for some time between them. Mr Sargood objected to Colonel Desney making reports to the Governor, Sir Heury Loch, as Commander -in - Chief, and afterwards insisted on all communic.itions from Colonel Desney being addressed to the Secretary of the Defence Department, instead of tohimself. Mr Sirgood further states that he considered Colonel Desney, and other Imper ; ,il ollieers serving in Victoria as akin to members of th° Civil Service. The Argus commenting on the correspondence characterises Mr S.irgood s letters as intolerably offensive, arrogant and supercilious, and considers that he exhibits clumsy and insolent sarcasm. Adelaidk, September 2. The Orient Company's R.M.S. Sor.ita arrived this morning from London.
