CONCERT AT CAMBRIDGE.
A cost'KßT inaugtuated by the General (iordoii (MMd Templai Lorlgc, was held in the Cambiidge Public Hall on Thuisday cvemncr. Tlie attendance was unexpectedly laigoand appreciative, and the entertainment was decidedly one. of the best and most successful that has been held in tho distticfc for home tune. Thin in a gieat measure was due to the variety which tho prognninie contained, many of the ladies and gentlemen who took part in the entertainment being in a measure new to a Cambridge audience. Tho recitations of Mi»s Parsons wrre the featuie of the evening. Her iciidoiingof tho " Women of Mumbles' Head " was a ni.tftei piece of elocution, and completely took tho audience. She was equ illy Mucessful m her other pieces, particulaily Pi.itia's pica for m j icy from the Jew of Venice. On each appeal .nice hhe had to bow her acknowledgements to an emphatic encore. Miss Culpan rendered " When he is heie " fiom (■Jilbeit and Sullivan's "Soiceier 'ina,pleasing style, and elicited a determined eiiCDie. The s nne may be said of her other song. Mi«s S uides made Iht hist appcuanco as a soloist before a Cambridge audience, and her song< were leceived with much favour. Miss, and Mr Trewheellar rendered the dui't, "Hear me Norma" and several solos in their charactetibtic good style. 1 i lhaps one of the most taking perfoimaiice-. of the evening was the violin solo by Dr. Murcli. This gentleman has on pteviiHid occasions appeared befoie a Cain hitdgo audience, but we have never picvi(aisly heaid him to so great advantage. He hid to respond to a very detei mined encore, but owing to the breaking of a stung, he had to be content with lcndeiing the air without the vatiattons.
