We managed to e\tiaet l!l,3001bs, and left the bees ,i good supply for winter. We did not extinct the lowei storey at all, and an thoy slacked off breeding they filled up the combs, with the exception of three or four half full in the centra. Th.it is how they weie in Autumn, when we fixed them up for the Wintei. We only incieased m\ from Hi) colonies, but '\e bought about 70 colotue-. in the Autumn from Major Jackson, and as there weif> Miniu weak ones amongst them, we united them down to 4") ; that makes the numhu of our colonies just 200. No doubt some of our bee-koeping fi tends will be inteieited to hear that we nhifted 100 lines about three oi four miles away fioin home, in tho nnd.it of a fine white-clover distiict. We aio getting two six-comb extiactois made, one for each apiiry, and we have about '2000 woiked-out combs to put in the top ntones as w>on as the honey season commences.
