Vogel, who said the bill was to give effect to certain contracts for the purchase of railways, which it was desired should be acquired, and it also went in the duection of a resolution winch was befoiv the House last session. After a second leading of the bill, Government intended to icier the contracts to the Public Accounts Committee for them to examine nml repoit upon. fSir J. Vogel moved to introduce a bill to pumde for a, guuanteo of the fidelity of Government officers, and to repeal the existing act. Agieed to. Tlie second reading of the Otago Dock Act Amendment Bill was carried by 38 to 23. Piogic-s was reported on the Goldmining District Act Amendment' Bill. The House went into Committee on the Public Reserves Act Amendment Bill. The bill was leported, read a third time, and passed.
