Hoiuht, July 30. 1 The Colonial Treasurer, the Hon. W. H. JJurgess, introduced liis Financial Statement last night. He stilted in the course of his speech that £30,000 had been expended by the colony during thr past year for defence purposes. It is proposed to flout a new loan of £1,000,000.
Adelaide, July 30. The South Australian House of Assembly last night adopted a measure }>ro\iding for the payment 'Of members on the Canadian system, which provides for the payment of so much per diem, with deductions in the case of absence.
