LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
TUESDAY. The Council met at half-past two. Tho Colonial Secretary moved the the thud rending of tho Commercial Code Bill. The Bill was road a third time and passed. The Presbyterian Church Property Bill and tlio Distress Bill were read a first tune. Mr Miller moved the second reading of the Law Practitioners Amendment Bill. Sir Y. Wlnt.iker opposed the bill, winch he moved be lead a second time that d.iy m\ months. The Colonial Secretary also spoke against the measiue. The Bill was thrown out by 2S to 9. Pioricsi was lepoited in the Administration Bill. Sir F. Whitaker mo\ed the second reading of tho Evidence Further Amendment Bill. Agreed to, Tho Council adjourned ar ten minutes past four p.m. WEDNESDAY. Mr Peacocke piesented petitions in fa\our of the East and West Co.i-t Railway. The Congregation Art Union Incorporation Bill was read a third time and passed. The Bank of Issue Bill was thrown out by 21 to '.). The Council adjourned at 5.5 p.m.
