[BY TELEGRAPH rRKSS ASSOCIATION.] GISBOKNE, Saturday. At a public meeting here resolutions were carried disapproving of the Native Land Disposition Bill now before Parliament, and approving of the Native Lands Consolidation Bill.
DUNEDIN, Saturday. The Union Company have abandoned the South Sea Islands trip, not sufficient coming forward even for "the smaller trip by the Penguin.
Monday. One of the Great Extended Company's batteries at Blue Spur, Lawrence, was burnt down yesterday. It was ins-nrcd in the Mercantile Union for £000, and in the Equitable for a similar amount. Ihe latter is paitly reinsured. The loss is £1800 over the insurance. No cause is assigned for the fire.
KAIKOURA, Monday. James Burnett, tailor, committed suicide early thi» morning by cutting his throat with a raior. He had been drinking for some time intermittently.
CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. Marshal Booth, a son of General Booth of the Salvation Army, commenced service* in connection with his inspection of the N«w Zealand corps in Tuam Hall, this afternoon.
