The Victorian Premier, Mr Servico, has received replies fiom the Governments 1 of South Australia and (Queensland expressing their readiness to join the protest against the postponement of the Federation Enabling Bill. Mr Sen ice has addressed n communication to .Sir Alexander Stuart, Premier of New South Wales, in which he states his willingness to abandon his opposition to the suggested delay, pi <n iding that Sir A. Stuart will undertake to submit to the Legislature of New South Wales the 31st clause of the bill in its original form.

Stuart that in order to remove all obstacles to a perfect understanding between the colonies on the Federation question, the Victorian (jrovermnent is willing to withdraw its opposition to clause 31 of the Enabling Bill in its original form, provided that the other colonies agreed to do likewise.
