CAMBRIDGE PUBLIC LIBRARY.
to thi i mmif. ,Sin, — As one of the snWnbei- of tin; Cambndgo Public Libiary, I should like tlio committee to give some explanation in n-gaid to the w.iv they tame to giant the supplying of books foi tlio yeai to one of oui local stationers lie being the highest tenrieier. My only object m writing about this mattei n to di.iw the attention of the public to the \ery onesided way these gentlemen have of doing business winch I consider a disgrace to our township. When men ghe themsehes up to such jobbery they me not fit to ti.umtt the business of any public institution. I, a-, well as most of the public, consider it very unfair to the other tendeieis who, after having gone to the expense of making up their quotations for prices had them declined, although much lower thnn the tender which secured the contiact. When a committee do business in this manner it will h.ne the effect of pi eventing anyone going to the tumble and expense of tendeung on a futuie occ ision. Trusting T ha\ c not taken up too much of yom \.ihuble space,— l «un, AiimnfJ. Huches. Cambii.lge, June I'-'th, ISS').
