The allotment of space on the main building of the Xe»v Zealand £\hibitiun is almost completed. Delay h.i-> arisen through the total applications exceeding the the .unount hiit piovided. It is not intended to allocate space according to provincial divisions, but the group together m f.tr a-, posbiblo annlagous exhibit*. The election of juries has been fixed on a basin which it is hoj>ed will give confidence to exhibitors. It i-> proposed that juries should be selected by a committee, and that that committee should bo composed, onehalf of persons selected by the exhibitor-* .xnd one-half selected by the local committees. The exhibition will only btopened on two evenings m the week, when conceits are to be given. The counsel for the New Zealand Rifle Association in the action brought against them by Lieut. Purnell, of W.uiganui, hay c hied a statement of defence. The .->titement is a general denial of pl.untiffh claim, inasmuch as tho decision of tin 1 executive committee being final plamtili could not question.
