London, May 11. In the House of Commons to-day, tlie Miinjuis of Hartmgton, Seeretiirv for War, in reply to a question, stated that regarding the operations in the Soudan, the (loverninent had decided to make Wady Haifa the advanced frontier, and to withdraw the troops to that point on the rising of the Nile. The expedition to Khartoum, Lord Hartiugton .said, would be abandoned, hut an endeavour would be made to establish an administration at Dongol.i. It is intended to complete the railway system along the Nile, but the projected line from Suakim to Berber would be relinquished. In conclusion, Lord Hartington stated that England would retain possession of Suakim until arrangements could be concluded for the occupation of that port by a civilised Po\\ er.
