CAMBRIDGE ATHLETIC CLUB.
This club held a, most succe«sfnl meeting in the Government paddock on Easter Monday. The mrangements of the coirnnittee were thorough, and the haudicappers appeared to give satisfaction. The day was gloriously hup, and had the effect of bringing out all tho townsfolks who were not "pending their holidays m picnics or excursions. The events were well contested, and great interest taken in the progress of tliu various contests. The .ibsence of a Kind was the only diawback ; but when everything conduces to mako a meeting of this description a success, e\ception may fait ly be omitted to » want of this kind. The events sis detailed below do not call foi any specul couiinont, except the high jump of J. McNtMsh, who cleared sft. <Sin., and the plucky manner in which young Swayne finished the two mile walk. The "All FourV'of course, cieated no ond of amuKr ninnt, as liny well be imagined. A protest was enteii'd by Craig against Suayne and Held ov it the Two Mile Walking Match, on the ground that they repeatedly broke, but vvli.it the liieiits of the case .ire it is h.ird to siv, as public opinion <unnngst the spectator-, was dmdod.
