EASTER ENCAMPMENT AT PAPATOETOE.

Thk encampment of the various volunteer corps in tbn provmcinl district has been hold dm lnjf the past few days at Papatoetoe, on the estate of Mr Mclaughlin. Tho men, including tho members of the To Awamutu and Waiuku cavalry, went into camp quaitorn on Friday, and yesterday tlie proceedings wore to conclude with .1 sh.ur. fight and review, a report of which the blundering arrangements of the Telegraph Department prevents our giving. On Saturday the volunteer* were exorcised in \arioun kinds of drill, and the smart appearanca of the cavalry was much commented on. Tho following wuh the parade stite on that day.— Wamku Cavalry, 1 captain, 2 lieutenants, and 31 men ; Te Awam'itu Cavalry, 1 major, 1 captain, 2 houtenautu, and 3D men ; Auckland Naval Aitilleiy, 1 captain, 2 lieutenant*, and 39 men ; Devonport Naval Artillery, 1 captain, 2 lieutenant*, and 37 inon ; Victoria Rifles, I captain, 2 lieutenants, and 20 men ; (Jity (iuauls, 1 captain, 1 lieutenant, and 12 men ; Hobson Company, 1 captain, 1 lieutenant, and 32 men ; Wairoa Rifles, 1 captain, 2 lieutenants, and *14 men ; A. Battery Artillery, 1 captain, 2 lieutenant-, and 3!) men ; (Jarrwm Hand, 1 bandmaster and 18 men. This gives a total of 3 IS, exclusive of the stiff. Col. Lyon arnvcd at the camp on Satmday evening. On Sunday tho whole of the forces attended church parade, and Anglican and Roman Catholic services weie conducted by tho Rev Mr Bate*, of the Noith Shore and Father Walter McDonald respectively. The parade was injected by Colonel Lyon. A large number of people vittitod the camp on Sunday and general regret was oxpressed that the Kailway Department wa^ unable to put on special trainn for Sunj day and yesterday.
