GENERAL BARRIOS KILLED. London, April 5.
Jt is announced that General Barrios, President of the Republic of Guatemala, was killed at the recent battle with the forces of San Salvador. The Legislative Assembly of Guatemala has annulled the decree recently passed providing for the fedei.ition of that State with the Republic of San Salvador, Nicaragua, and Cost.i Rica.
The telegram to thr effect tbat a force consisting of 1000 Fenians is being equipped at Chicago to proceed to the Soudan to assist the Mahdi it very summarily disposed of by the Australasian. In the first place, the editor oay« he doesn't believe it, as the proceeding is (in auch very great contrast to the sneaking attacks on public officials and public buildings by which the Fenians have hitherto shown their prowess ; and in the next place, he says that if it is true, he wonders how many of the patriots are engaged in supplying secret information to the authorities, in the hope of getting them to interfere to stop the expedition. The Australasian thinks that the best way to deal with the matter, if th« report be true, is to get the movement well supplied with funds and help the noble army oft to the Soudan as soou as possible. It thinks the gallant thousand would soon become the most pitiable objects of human sympathy the worl would have to offer,
