CONCERT AND DANCE AT HUNTLY.
A MOST successful coiuert and danco was held in Jones' Hall, <»n Friday evening, the 13th m«t , in aid of the funds of the Himtly Public Cemetery, and was followed by a danco, wlncli was continued until the small hours of the morning. The hr»t part conHinted of a Negro Minstrel eiiteit.uninent, with Messrs Holloway and Wright as comer men, and tho songs weie fiequently applauded. The jokes and locil "hits were well rendeivd and " fetched tho audience immensely. Mr Holloway \\ is particulaily h.i[»pv in hib paitof Tainbo, and had to submit to encores for both hi-, songs. Hi-, perfect acting kept the audience in continuous, good humour. The choiusis were fairly rendered. The second p.nt of the piugianimo was of «i mi*,cell«uifoiis character, the com of the evening undoubtedly being Mm H. Reynolds' thumingly rendered "Drifting" encoiod and ifsponded to by "Tho Millei and the Maid." "Auntie" was very pleasingly given by Miss Rebecca Hams, and "Thy •w'ice is near" admirably snug by Miss Gumming, who iccened a unanimous encore. Miss McLeod'-. " Khren on tho Rhine " was executed w ith a great deal of feeling and pathos. " Plump for Tompkins, or " Tho Balloting Brigade " was received with loud applause and had to bo repeated. The piano was piesided over by Mrs Kiln, whoso indefatigable efforts contnbuted imin«asuie<ibly to tho kUcmss of the e\enmir, and who^eiendering of tho various accompaniments was perfect. At the conclusion Mi L. IJ. Harris, on behalf of the tiustcc-, of the cemetery, in a few concise and null clioxen words, th.mked the audience for their attendance, and the performers (many of whom had como fioin a far distance) for theii valuable and willing aid. Too much praise could not be accoided to Mr Isaac Jones for the liberal manner in which he had given the iw of the ball for tho ptactici's and concert. I believe tho proceeds placed hi the baud* of the trustees amounted to about £12.
