REMENYI'S CONCERTS.

Seldom has the public "of Wuikato had an oppoitunity of hearing such good music as that supplied by Mr Remenyi .uid his talented company, "at Cambridge and Hamilton, on Wednesday and Thuisday nights, respectively. At both places, but iiioio paiticularly at Cambridge, laigo .md appieci.itive audience 1 ) were g.vth'ied tn gether to hoar the " King of Violinists," and in e.icli c.vso 'thoy went away thoroughly delighted with the treat afforded them. This, indeed, but feebly expresses the enthusiasm which prevailed at the entertain ments. It is not our intention to give an exhaustive criticism. To tho-,o who had the good fortune to be present such is un necessary, while to those whom circumstances kept away, no description of mir* could convey an adequate idea of the hiipermccHcnce of the whole performance. Let us therefore content ourselves with saying that Remonyi is a perfect master of his instrument, that he lias the power to lull the houl to rest, to rouse the passions, or to oxcito tho risibility of his audience without any apparent effort. He is simply a marvel. In Mr Lnckstone, M. Remenyi has a sympathetic accompanist and no higher praise can well be bestowed. Mr Lnckstone's solos were also well appicciated. Miss Downing sang a couple of t.oiigs in rare style, and fairly won the applause of the audience, and Mr Himmer exhibited his hue- tenor w ith fine effect. His singmgof "The Angel at the Window ' was a feature of the entertainment, and he was compelled to submit to a unanimous encore. The whole of the entertainment was of a kind which Waikato audiences have not been accustomed to, and the pity is that we are not blessed with them oftener. To-night Mr Remenyi perfoims at the Thimes.
