CATHOLIC CONCERT AT KIHIKIHI.
The concert at Kihikihi, which took placo in thu hall on S. Patnck's J).iy, was a complete success, botlt from an aitistic and from a financial point of view. The Rev. Father Luck, 0.5.8., acted as chairman, and, m a few well-chosen word-*, claimed foi the performers the attention of tlie audience. The l.idy singers weie Mrs ({re.sh.un, Mm Doyle, Miss Cullen and Misa (4ray. The gentltMiien pei formers : Messrs C. Hunter, Wynne (4iay, (Jie-liain, Stanton, Rigg and Boyne. Tim icpeatid applaiwo of the audience was the most s itisfactory test of the \eiy pleasing m iiiiht m whicli the vanoiis songs weio lendeied, wlnl« among the gentlemen soloists, Mr Hunter with his " Hunting Sons," and Mr (Ji.vy with "Tippitiwitchet/'f.mly hi ought down the house. Wry preat pr.uv i-. duo to Mm liowl.ind Buckworth foi lici pi.inofi>rte accompaniments, and also for her appropriate selection of " Los Cloche-, de Moiu.hte're." As a professor of tlm pianoforte, it was naturally expected tint Mrs Buckworth would ably acquit herself, and I am pleased to be now able to testify as to her musical jMiworn. Hei sucopss as a teacher of mumc was also tellingly manifested in the person of her pupil, Mi*s Emily Farrell, who also, on sever.il occasion*, did duty at the piano in almost piofosnm.il style. After the conceit the prrfoi int-i^ adjourned to Mrs Corboy'a residence, where HiipiHjr was kindly provided. Dancing was then commenced, and wm continued with vigour till thn news of the conflagration; then taking placo at To Awamutu, recalled the dancers to the sterner realities of life.
