In 188.5, 101,714 cwts., and in 18S2, 37,283 cvt I',1 ', dime from Australasia. The value of the Vu>tialosian imports last year was £520,2i.3; m 18S2, £21)4,370; and in 1883, £'.)i,\)\o. The total value of the imports of fiL.li mutton was £1,408,510 in 18S1. The qu uitity of mutton imported last month wa-- 47,0')t cwts., 14,500 cwt«. coming from Holland, LS,fiG7 cwts. from New Zetland, against 'J,(>2o cwts. in 18S3; and 5,524 cwts. from the United States. The Kuapehu arrived last week with 13.000 caicases of New Zealand mutton in splendid condition, and the Orient has tins weok brought nearly 4,000 from Melbourne and Sydney. The Ruapehu's caigo from Well-ngton'is bringing from 3s 2d to 3s 4d per stone of Bll>., the Canterbury mutton fetching 2d per lt> moie. The Melbourne poition of the Orient cargo is realising fiom 3s 2d to 3s 4d. The Sydney mutton is selling ,\t f lorn 3^d to 4d per lb. It i.s interesting to note mt Mr Michael Davitt, the Irish ationahst, is apprehensi\e that the uniense cargoes of New Zealand mutton now •riving will menace the meat-raisers of •eland with a condition of prices which ill make it impossible for even graziers to ly e\i->ting rents.
PRINKRVED MEATS. Imports of preserved meats from Aus-ti.ili-.i,i during last year amounted to 127, ">!> I cwt, m compared with 220,059 cwt in 1.^.5, Jind 101,870 cwt in 1882. The vain ■ of the imports last year was £300,197, as coiu|uied with £537,G10 m 1883 und £40i,J13 m 1832. The market for Austi.ili.ui tinned moata continues dull.
