The contest consisted of three distances, viz., 440 yds., 300 yds., and 150 yds., and the stake was £10 a-bide. Craig won the toss and elected to tiike the longer distances first. The first spin, 440 yds , fell to Craig, who won easily by about 3."> yds, doing the distance in 55sec*. The 300 yds also fell to Craig by about 20yd", covering the distance in 33^secs. This being two out of the three distances Craig wns declared the victor. The betting wn* mostly in favour of Craig, Carnachan's b.ickers wanting odds. A scratch handicap, distance 120 yds, for a sweepstake of 2s fid nomination and 2s lid acceptance was subsequently got up. Thoie were twehe entries, but only si\ started.
