Mi Rillance met Mews L.ike and Steelo at Oh.inpo to day (win u i-n loute for C.iinbridgo) on beh.ilf of the W.upa Comity Council. Mr L.ike asked why the balance of pre\inus applications under the Roads and Bridges Construction Act, t'3fi.">o, hud been overlooked. Mr Ball.vice said the amount placed to the credit of the fund for that year had been exhausted. He recommended the council to untc t<> tho Department, and ho would see to the matter when in Wellington. Re the Hnmilton-Whatawhata road, Mr Hallnnce aereed that the f?rant of £500 for this road should not Ujwe if the money was expended o\er two yearH iimtead of one, but the balance bo brought forward <t.s a revote Mr Hallance promised that tho firewood reserve, «oine fifty acres, .should be \ested in the local road board.
