On 'Change. The sharemarket has been remarkably dull for some time pait. Brokers are wondering whrn there w ill be a chaupe for the better. During the past week scarcely anything has been done on the Exchange. Banking and insurance stocks remain firm. Buyers in Colonial Bank shares, 425 ; South British Insurance, 5U ; Auckland gas, 10s f>d ; Thames gas, 265; Auckland limber Company, £4 I.'js. The only business done in the mining market has been in the (,'ambiia nnd Moantairi Extended. Snlei in the former, Hi 9d, 12a and V2e 6d ; in tht- latter, Is 10.1.
The Markets. The weekly market price list which is published to il.iy, contain? several alteration! from List week's quotations. They include the following : — In wholesale prices: Hum, in equal nunilx-TR, i)|d per lh ; oatmeal, £14 per ton ; oats, '2s J)d to '2i 111 per bushel ; now potatoes, £4 10s per ton. No change in the value of gum. Jiutter rein tins at previous quotations. Eggs advanced to Is Gd per dozen wholesale, and Is !*d retail.
