GERMANY AND THE PACIFIC. Berlin, January 28. The sub-committee of the Ileichstag appointed to consider the proposals to subsidise certain lines of mail steamers trading from Gorman ports, has recommended adopting the project of a line to Australia, but rejected one to Samoa.

[Received January 30th, 12 30 p.m.] COMMERCIAL. Loxdox, January 28. Consols remain at 99f , and New Zoaland securities at last prices. Wheat is unchanged : Adelaide, in stove, 375 : New Zealand ditto, 29s to 3.35. Adelaido flour, in warehouse, 25s Gd. Australian tallow, average quality beef, 34s ; ditto mutton, 31s Gd. The avool market continues firm. At to-day's auction 9800 bales were offered. January 29. The bank rate of discount has boen reduced from fire to four per cent.
