Tho annual meeting to elect a bchool committee, &c, was held at tho nchoolhouse according to advertisement on Monday. Mr Geo. Hall was voted to the chair. The chairman of the late committee (Mr Alexander) laid the report of last year's proceedings before the committee. It pointed chietly to the improvementabout the school, n.unely, the fencing in and laying down in gra--. of .1 paddock for the teacher at a cost of about £20, part of which was donated by the Board of Kducation, the remainder being made up by the settlers. It is a great improvement to the district. Tho following were then as a committee : — Mrs^ri Alexander (chair man), ih Hall, W. Washer, J. Mays, U. Abbott, Edward Johns and Alexander Mays.
