S. PETER'S SUNDAY SCHOOL HAMILON. Presentation of Prizes.
The annual distribution of pri/.es to the successful pupils of S. Peter's Sunday School took place at the Public Hall, on Tuesday night. There was a largo attendance of clnldicn, with their parents and friends, and the chair was occupied by tho incuml>ent (the Rev K. O'C. Biggs). The proceedings opened with prjyer and prai-.e, and the chairman then called on the superintendant (Mr H. Logic) to lead the annual report and ballance sheet. The latter has already appeared in these columns. The former «ai as follows :—: —
ANM'AI RI'I'ORr. At the annual content for the Dishop's prizes held in Auckland durng the }c»r, S. Peter's Hamilton stood third on the list of successful Sunday S( hool«, securing four prizes, the names of the prize winners were- Jeanie Higgs, Hcssio Sandcs, Nellie Sandcs, and Alice Sandrs. During the jcar we have received our consignment ot books ordered from London lor our libran, and these will be ready for issue very shortly. Ihe Sunday School is not on a. satisf.ic.tory footing with rcßTrd to cleaning it out, and arranging the seats. &c, He, for Sunday Scligol Ihe h.ill is frequently left after an entertainment or ball \cry untidy and dirtj. During the current year a. new system ot teaching the elder classes is to be introduced Lessons of questions will be set, and the written answers thereto brought bark the following Sunday. As these questions will bear on the subject to DC taught, it will tend greatly to assist in teaching, and benefit the children vcr\ much. The attendance during the year has not been altogether satuf ictory. lhis is much to be regretted, .11 the result is shown by the small prize li'-t, which means not only disappointment to the children, but the teachers also, and is a great drawback to the good sought to be q lined by our Sunday -school. Whether the children or the p irents are to blame for this, it is not tor me to say. Ihe question of regular attendance at Sundaj -school is one which demands the senou* attention of all parents who have the welfare ot their children at heart. Ihe staff of teachers during the jear have been most regul ir in their attendance, and they have one and all worked most zealously for the welfare of the Sund ijschool.
