The attend nice li.ih been fully kept up to the average of previous yeais, which, taking into consideration the departure of se\eral families and the opening of a denominational school, sliowh that the benefits to be dented from the education of children in this school are fully appreciated by the general body of parents in this district. In the month of Septemlx>r, through the etfoits of Mr Stevens and his staff of teacher-, a concert was held, realising tl.">, the proceeds being applied to the purchase of books for the school library. The committee, bearing in mind the impoit.ince of keeping the High School open, invited the coopeiation of the Hamilton West School Committee, which imitation being heai tily responded to, the attendance of pupils w.us made up to a number s.iHsfactoiy to the Board of Education, and although, through illne-s and other causes the number of pupils can kcarcely be kept up dining the, piesent quarter, the committee have assurance that it is not the intention of the Bo.ud to clomj the hcliool. further, the committee have had piomises of ,m increase in the numl>er of pupils for the ne\t quarter. ]sut, at the same tinio, the committee earnestly urge njMtn the householders the impoitance of supporting their efforts to establish secondary education in thi.s district.
