MELBOURNE WOOL SALES.
Melbourne, January 8. Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company held their usual weekly wool sales to-da\' when n, fairly representative Cittaloguo of 1700 bales was submitted. Thei'e was a largo attendance of buyers and brisk competition was experienced, especially for good qualities. Prices were generally well maintained. The principal feature of the sales was Gibson and Sons' clip for Scone, Tasmania, prices for which ranged to Kid, while the whole clip, including locks and pieces, averaged Is id, the highest price yet obtained in Melbourne this season, and fully a penny higher than any other clip •sold in the grease. Some other parcels sold at satisfactory prices. Fine greasy cross-bred and scoured
in rinos are still in good demand, and the, hitter realised 20d. Washed iiece;.' is dull, and no hg!> prices were realised to day.
