WAIKATO HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
TIJR committee of the above n&sooiation met yesterday, in The Waikato Times Buildings. Present t Messrs H, W- EJoith croft (chairman), EdwaicU, Mason, I'oi'iose, Yon Stunner, Edgecumbe aud Dey. It was proposed by Mr Dey and heconded by Mr Mason, "That the lepoit of the sub-committee, and the schedule of pt izes be adopted." Carried unanimously. The Secretary was instructed to advertise the sohedulo of pri^SS in each Saturday's issue up to the date of the show. The question of altering the date of tho Show was next discussed, and as it was pointed out that Saturday was a most inconvenient day, not only for business people, but for settlers generally, on the inotjon of Mr Yon Stunner, neooncjed by Mr Forrest, it was unanimously ngeeed to ohange the date for holding the show to Tuesday, March 17feh. It was argued by tho mover of this proposition that, being a holiday, it was much more likely to be taken advantage of by residents generally throughout the district to pay a visit to the show than could possibly be the case if the holding of the show on the Saturday, as a$ first proposed, was adhered to, The reports from a- portion mh of the committee showed up to the prosßßt a fcofca]. of nearly eighty members, and it is fully expected that double that number will be reached by the time a general canvas has been made. Matters so far are very satisfactory.
